Exhibition: Role Play
Presenting works by six artists, the exhibition Role Play looks at the forces that transform existing roles, meanings and values in the contemporary society that we live in. Each one of us is expected to play a role. The “role play” method employed in educational context asks participants to play preset roles for them to learn their part in a group organization. On the other hand, in the “role play” in the virtual world, players freely create and act their own characters that interact and collaborate with each other to comprise an another world. Through their artworks and creative processes, artists introduced here try to modify the roles, meanings and values associated with people, things, experiences and places, and challenge the existing structures from serious to humorous point of views playing the game of everyday life. They go against the unspoken rules in a desire to turn over the existing value making system and to create complex trajectories of strategies and decision-making.
